Access Yelp On-the-Go in Your Buick

MT. PLEASANT, Mich -- Your Buick can now make on-the-go reservations at a variety of restaurants with just a few taps on your infotainment touchscreen. This feature is part of a recent update to Buick marketplace, the industry's first in-vehicle commerce platform - and is just another way Buick is using connectivity to enhance vehicles and create new and convenient customer experiences. 

Within the Marketplace app, Yelp reservations, allows customers to search for restaurants in a 25-mile radius of their vehicle's location and reserve a table for up to 10 people. Users can segment their search by types of cuisine, such as Seafood or Mexican, and view the restaurant's rating and general price range. The app also lets drivers call a restaurant directly. Sam Russell. director of Buick Marketing commented on the new feature saying: 

"Whether drivers want to make a dinner reservation on the go, or get recommendations for restaurants in a new city, the newly added Yelp Reservations brings simple convenience to the car, making new features like this available for vehicles already on the road enhances our vehicles with unexpected new benefits for our customers." 

With more than 160 million reviews, Yelp is a trusted resource for connecting consumers with great local businesses. With the availability of Yelp Reservations, Buick drivers can learn about the best restaurants nearby and easily book a table at participating restaurants. Vice President of Products at Yelp, Natarajan Subbiah said of the new integration: 

"Getting a table at an amazing restaurant should be easy, and we're excited to be making that possible by bringing Yelp Reservations directly into vehicles across the country. By embedding the Yelp Reservations booking experience into Buick Vehicles, drivers have a fun, easy way to discover and secure a table at the best restaurants in their area." 

Buick Marketplace is available on all 2017 and newer models in the U.S. depending on vehicle trim level. In addition to Yelp Reservations, Marketplace also allows Buick drivers to place mobile food and drink orders, pay for fuel at gas stations, and find dealer offers for vehicle service and the latest vehicle accessories, all from the convenience, safety, and security of their vehicle's touchscreen.

Alleviate Worry With the New Vehicle Locate Feature

MT. PLEASANT, Mich -- The myChevrolet mobile app recently received a new feature that will help ease loved ones' worries and make the process of checking-in more convenient. The feature is called Vehicle Locate and it allows Chevy owners to send automated text alerts to friends and family when their connected vehicle enters or leaves a designated boundary area, or arrives at or departs from an address. Owners can also use the feature to pinpoint the location of their connected vehicle at any given time. 

The new mobile app update replaces the Family Link service, which was solely web-based. When you set up the new vehicle locate, you can create boundary areas, as wide as a 20-mile radius or as small as a specific address. You can then select you should receive alerts when your vehicle enters or leaves that designated area. Up to 10 people can receive a specific boundary alert, and each party is given the option to opt in. 

Alejandra Gonzalez, product manager for Chevrolet's remote services said of the new feature: 

"At Chevrolet, we aim to make our drivers' lives easier through smart and purposeful technologies...Vehicle Locate provides both drivers and their loved ones with peace of mind in a variety of different drive-related scenarios." 

The functionality of the new feature goes beyond just keeping families connected. Chevrolet has identified a number of different scenarios where Vehicle Locate makes it easier to stay in touch, including: 

• The Connected Commuter: A working professional who regularly notifies family or friends once they have left work or are nearing home. Vehicle locate eliminates the need to send a text by automatically sending out a notification.

• The Concerned Parent: When teenagers start driving, it can be a constant point of worry for any parent. To help minimize worry, parents can work with their new drivers to receive automatic alerts when the vehicle arrives at school or when it leaves a designated radius.

• The Modern Dater: Blind and online dates can be exciting, but the idea of meeting up with a stranger can also be somewhat concerning. Instead of regularly texting friends and family members updates on your whereabouts, daters can have their vehicle automatically send out a text once it has left the planned restaurant or once the vehicle has arrived back at home.

• The Helpful Truck Owner: Truck owners often get requests to let friends borrow their vehicle to help move or transport large items. Vehicle Locate can help you keep tabs on your truck and anticipate its return.

Vehicle Locate will be available to Chevy owners that have an eligible 2012 model year or newer Chevrolet vehicle. The service is part of the Remote Access Plan, which also provides mobile app features like remote key fob services to remotely start, stop, lock, and unlock properly equipped GM vehicles, and on-demand diagnostics to troubleshoot common issues.

Advanced Vehicle Technologies Set For 2017 Cadillac Models

However, to General Motors the reality isn't far off! In a recent address, the automaker announced advanced vehicle technologies are set for select 2017 Cadillac models!

Some of you may be excited to hear the news while others may be freaking out at the thought of this type of technology, so let's break it down. Simply put, the advanced technologies set for select 2017 Cadillac models will actually work to keep you safer since they will make the vehicles more intelligent and connected. In the address at the Intelligent Transport System World Congress in Detroit, Mary Barra outlined two of the additions: Super Cruise and Vehicle to Vehicle Communication.

Super Cruise is the name General Motors is using to refer to their automated driving technology. Attentive drivers will be able to utilize Super Cruise to enjoy hands-off lane following, braking and speed control in certain highway conditions including both bumper-to-bumper traffic and long drives. Additionally, as you enjoy a more comfortable ride with Super Cruise, the Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Communication technology will work to keep you safe. By sending and receiving basic safety information from one vehicle to another (location, speed, etc.), the technology can prevent traffic collisions and improve congestion by warning drivers and supplementing some of the already available active safety features like forward collision warning.

Thought of driverless cars can be frightening, and while the advanced vehicle technologies set for 2017 Cadillac models are one step closer to that, they have been designed to help people live their lives more safely.
