Chevy Colorado And GMC Canyon Get New Turbo-Diesel Engines For 2016

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - After months of teasing it finally looks like General Motors is going to release a light-duty truck with a little bit more power under the engine! GM is ready to join the diesel club of light-duty pickup trucks, and throws its hat into the game with both the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon getting new turbo-diesel engines for 2016. GM joins FCA and Nissan by incorporating a diesel option into the popular light-duty pickup class, and both models look pretty impressive!

The new 181-horsepower diesel engine will help both trucks-models increase towing capability and fuel economy, but will understandably come at a higher price. The diesel engine will cost $3,700 more than the comparable truck with a 3.6-liter V6 engine in the Colorado or Canyon. Due to several new incorporated technologies, the Duramax four-cylinder is the cleanest diesel truck General Motors has ever produced, which is thanks in part to a cooled exhaust-gas reduction system.  This system mixes some exhaust gas back into the air intake and lowers combustion temperatures.

Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon get new turbo-diesel engines for 2016, and the powerful new diesel will showcase 369 pounds-feet of torque, which is good for towing up to 7,700 pounds in the two-wheel version (compared to the current 7,000 pounds in gas trucks). The exciting new diesel-engine Chevy and GMC models will go on sale in the fall, and the Colorado will be available in the FT and Z71 crew cab models with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options. 2015 GMC Canyon Will Offer FOUR Special Edition Models

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – If you're a Chevy or GMC truck enthusiast, you know that General Motors doesn't just offer one version of each. It's all about the special editions! They've done it with the 2015 Silverado and Sierra, and now the 2015 GMC Canyon will offer FOUR special edition models! And no, we are not talking about the SLE and SLT trim levels that are already available!

According to GM Authority who received some special insight from dealership sources, between 2015 and 2016 GMC will roll out four different trim levels for the new Canyon midsize truck! What will the 2015 GMC Canyon's FOUR special edition models offer? Take a look –

1. 2015 GMC Canyon Denali – This option may not come as a surprise to you since other trucks in GM's line up have received the same treatment. The all-but-confirmed Denali edition will offer an exclusive powertrain in addition to appearance features similar to those seen on the Sierra Denali – body color bumpers and mirrors, and a signature chrome grille.

2. 2015 GMC Canyon All Terrain Adventure – No, this is not the all terrain model that launched with the initial release of the vehicle. The special All Terrain Adventure trim level is expected to be jam packed with all kinds of truck bed accessories for any of life's adventures, including racks and mounts for your bikes or ATV!

3. 2015 GMC Canyon Midnight Edition – Just as the name suggests, the Midnight Edition trim level is a bit more mysterious. But if we take note from the Sierra's Elevation edition, we'd expect the Midnight Edition to be dressed in blacked-out wheels, a body-colored grille surround, color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings and front and rear bumpers!

4. 2015 GMC Canyon Chrome Edition – This special edition model is pretty self explanatory. It's GM tradition to add an abundance of chrome wherever they can and the tradition continues here!

2015 Canyon & Colorado Offer Segment Leading Fuel Economy

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Set to hit dealerships this fall, it won't be long before the new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize trucks arrive here at Graff Mt. Pleasant, and let us just say, we can't wait! Adding to our anticipation is recent news that the 2015 Canyon & Colorado will offer segment leading fuel economy!

According to new EPA estimates, the new midsize trucks will offer a 3-5 mpg advantage over the fuel ratings of competing V6 pickup trucks with automatic transmissions. Estimated ratings of 26 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city for a combined fuel economy estimate of 21 mpg, reveal that the 2015 GMC Canyon & Chevy Colorado will offer segment leading fuel economy with their 2WD models with 3.6L gasoline V6 engines. And the same goes for the 4x4 models which are estimated to offer 24 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in the city for a combined 20 mpg.

It just goes to show, you don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy a vehicle that offers capability and efficiency but it also fun to drive. Plus, the new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are two great options if you need a truck but don't want something as large as the full-size Silverado.
