Groupe PSA and GMC Teaming up to Launch Car-Sharing Service in the US

MT. PLEASANT, Mich-- Free2Move, a car and bike sharing app owned by Groupe PSA is set to launch in Washington DC this month. The app, which has already launched in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon allows users to compare car sharing services and choose which works best for them in that moment. It's a multi-provider registration process, so personal info only needs to be uploaded to Free2Move, and then you can order from any other transportation app without having to go through a second vetting process. You can hail public transit, a car, bike or scooter share, and much more!

The Free2Move platform is in use across Europe, but PSA is targeting the US to boost the app's success. There are also whispers of a larger agenda behind the launch. While PSA is the second largest automaker in Europe, their vehicles have not been sold in the US for at least 20 years and various industry leaders suspect this is an attempt to wiggle back into the American market.

In preparation for their Washington DC launch, PSA teamed up with GMC to acquire a fleet of 600 leased Chevrolet Equinox crossovers and Chevrolet Cruze models. Though this is not the first transaction between PSA and GM this year, in early August, the two corporations closed on a deal that relinquished the former GM company Opel/Vauxhall into PSA's hands. GM stated that the sale was a step in a major overhaul for their brand, in addition to a money saving effort, as GMC sales in Europe have been on a steady decline. This partnership has come as surprise to many, including Opel's leadership, but so far the results have seemed to benefit both parties.

What do you think of the new Free2Move platform? Is it an app you would download? Comment and let us know!

GMC Elevates 2019 Sierra to New Heights

2019 Sierra

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – GMC continues their bold trek into the future with their introduction of the 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation. The 2019 Sierra sets itself apart because of its designs showcasing black exterior accents. These include the tow hooks, side window trim, the standard 20-inch aluminum wheels, and grille insert. The 2019 Sierra also has a hood with bumpers, a grille surround, and monochromatic door handles. Including chiseled fenders, this vehicle has high-intensity LED headlamps utilizing a C-shaped light blade signature, C-shaped LED elements in the taillights and LED fog lamps. This is a grand showcase of what makes the 2019 GMC Sierra modern and cutting edge.

“The 2019 Sierra Elevation conveys a youthful, athletic presence that demonstrates GMC’s tailored approach,” GMC Marketing Director Rich Latek said. “With inherent truck capabilities and functionality, Elevation is able to take you off the beaten path along with your gear while standing out from the pack.”

The vehicle offers four-wheel-drive or two-wheel-drive configurations. Its basis comes from the double cab model. It has around three inches of additional rear-seat legroom as compared with the current model and double cab front head- and legroom (max).

The 2019 Sierra Elevation showcases a Traction Select System, which allows the driver to choose from many preset modes utilized for various conditions or purposes. An example of this optimum performance comes from the tour mode, which allows for everyday driving. Another variation, the Terrain mode, makes it possible for the 2019 Sierra to performance at its best in adventures away from the traditional path.

If you choose to go down a different path than you usually do, it may be best for you to consider the X31 Off Road package that gives you lock rear differential, Rancho shocks, Hill Descent control, underbody skidplates, a dual exhaust system, a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing and all-terrain tires, and a heavy-duty air filter. This will give you unique suspension. You might wish to take advantage of the ProGrade Trailering System, which utilizes many different features such as the Trailering App. This helps to simplify the directions when connecting your car to your trailer and towing it.

If you are headed somewhere off the normal trail you travel, you might use the GearOn rails that can allow for kayak carriers, bike racks, or many other accessories to be installed for your use. While the 2019 Sierra Elevation boasts an amazing amount of assistance for travel of all kinds, there’s an even greater interest inside the car itself. It contains a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This allows for 348 lb-ft of torque and 310 horsepower. The 5.3-liter V-8, which utilizes a Dynamic Fuel Management system, allows the engine to work on up to eight cylinders in optimizing the efficiency and power.

Another great feature is the eight-inch GMC Infotainment System, which utilizes both Apple CarPlay compatibility and Android Auto with a six-speaker audio system. The premium GMC Infotainment System has advanced personalization features, voice recognition functionality, higher resolution touchscreen, and optional in-vehicle apps and an optional Bose premium audio system with seven speakers. USB Type A and Type C ports are standard for different mobile devices.

When 2019 rears its head, the 2019 Sierra will be offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six-cylinder engine. If you are thinking about picking yourself up this car or another new GMC model, Graff Mt. Pleasant is your one-stop-shop for all your vehicle needs. We can help you locate the best GMC vehicle that will suit your needs.

3 Important Ways General Motors Honors Military Heroes

3 Important Ways General Motors Honors Military Heroes

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- General Motors has a long history of supporting our military and focuses on assisting veterans in three ways: jobs, vehicles, and homes. We at Graff Mt. Pleasant are proud to be part of a company that honors our nation's heroes and seeks to give back to them in return for everything they do to ensure our freedom and safety.

Here are 3 important ways that General Motors honors our military veterans.

3 Important Ways General Motors Honors Military Heroes

1. JOBS

The unemployment rate amongst veterans 3.7 percent nationally. Thanks to companies like GM, it is below 3.5 percent in the state of Michigan as they currently employ over 5,000 vets and will hire 500 more this year.

3 Important Ways General Motors Honors Military Heroes

2. VEHICLES

The General Motors Military Discount Program gives a special discounted purchase or lease price on eligible GM vehicles to active duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, veterans within 3 years of discharge, and retirees of the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.

Effective June 1st, GM is expanding its military discount program to include First Responders. Find out more on the official website.

3 Important Ways General Motors Honors Military Heroes

3. HOMES

Through their support of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan, GM helps to place vets in Smart Homes so they can live the lives they deserve.

Through the Smart Home Program, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation has committed to building a minimum of 200 mortgage-free, custom-designed homes to meet the specific needs of injured service members. The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan, an all-volunteer group of private citizens, offers essential financial assistance to our state's veterans of the post-9/11 Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and their families.

Over the years, GM has raised more than $8 million dollars towards the support of our military veterans through these two charities with the help of their customers, dealers, and employees. Find out more about the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan and see how you can join the cause!

Those were 3 important ways that General Motors gives back to our nation's heroes for everything they give to us, and Graff Mt. Pleasant is honored to be apart of it. With Memorial Day coming up, we encourage you to keep the families of fallen service members in your heart and mind and be sure to thank a veteran or active duty member for the sacrifices they've made and continue to make to ensure our freedom and safety.

During the month of May, military service members can share their GM military discount with a family member! Contact us to get started.

Clean out Your Closet with 3 Simple Spring Cleaning Steps

Clean out Your Closet with 3 Simple Spring Cleaning Steps

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.,––Give your closet the TLC it deserves this spring. There's no better feeling than having a clean, spacious, and organized wardrobe! People are creatures of habit, meaning we all tend to keep things in our possession longer than we probably should. If you have any sort of doubt about an item in your closet, chances are, it's time for it to go. Get rid of that old grey sweater and worn out pair of running shoes. It's time to clean out your closet with these 3 simple spring cleaning steps:

Step 1: Purge

Clean out Your Closet with 3 Simple Spring Cleaning Steps

We know it can be hard to let go of items that once made you dazzle. However, sometimes, you just have to let go. Go through your closet and ask yourself these 7 questions:
  • Does this fit?
  • Have I worn this in the last 12 months?
  • Is it likely I will ever wear this again?
  • Is this currently in style, and/or does this still accurately represent my style?
  • If this is damaged in any way, will I actually make the effort to get this repaired?
  • If I was shopping right now, would I buy this?
  • Do I feel confident when I wear this?
If you answer a solid "no" to any of these questions, it's time to say goodbye. Another great way to decipher what items to keep is creating three different piles. One for "keep", another for "maybe", and the last one for "get rid of". This way you can sort through all your clothes and accessories and be able to distinguish what you actually want. Don't forget the 1-year rule! If you haven't worn it in a year, it's probably time to toss it out.

Step 2: Sell, Donate, or Throw Away

Clean out Your Closet with 3 Simple Spring Cleaning Steps

Once you've decided what items you're getting rid of, it's time to figure out what you want to do with them. You have many options to choose from: sell, donate, or throw away. Selling your unwanted clothes can be a hassle and very time-consuming, but it can definitely be worth it for some extra cash to have on hand. If you have some expensive pieces that hold some real value, list them on a resale site like eBay! Now, if you have items that are really worn out or have holes or stains on them, just toss those in the trash. Whatever you have left, bundle it together in a large trash bag or box, and set it aside to be donated. Drop it off at your local Salvation Army, Goodwill, or other nonprofit institution that collects used clothes.

Step 3: Organize

Now that you've got the clothes, shoes, and accessories that you want to keep in your closet, it's time to do a little bit of reorganizing. There are three highly effective items to use for storage and organization: hangers, bins/totes, and hooks. Hangers keep the wrinkles out of your clothes and create a cleaner, less cluttered space. Bins/totes comes in all shapes and sizes. They are perfect for stacking on shelves and hiding items you don't typically use everyday. It's also a good idea to put seasonal clothes in boxes until you'll wear them again. Hooks are great for everyday jackets, belts, hats, scarves, purses, or even necklaces.

Once you've got all your handy storage supplies in order, you'll want to arrange your items in a helpful and easy way. Vacant floor space can be used for totes, bins, or even large bags. Put the clothes/shoes that you wear regularly within reach. Store seasonal bins/rarely used items up high or out of sight. Try organizing your clothing by different categories (i.e. dress pants, jeans, casual shirts, blouses, jackets, etc.). You can even sort items by color, too!

A lot of times we put spring cleaning aside because we either don't want to let go of certain items, or we don't want to take the time to do it. This spring, make the choice to clean out your closet with these 3 simple spring cleaning steps. Once you do, you'll feel accomplished, organized, and revived. It's a great feeling knowing that your space is clutter-free! Don't forget to clean out your car and perform routine maintenance for the spring season. Read our spring car care tips for information on tires, alignment and suspension, fluids, wiper blades, and spring cleaning. Make sure to schedule an appointment with our service team for any work and repairs your vehicle needs!

Spring Break Safety Tips

Spring Break Safety Tips

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.,–– Heading off on a spring break vacation soon? Whether you are on a college break or taking a trip with the family, we want to ensure your safety while you are having fun away from home! Before the relaxation kicks in, it's important to make sure you are prepared for everything along the way. Make this year's trip one to remember and enjoy your time away by following these spring break safety tips:

1. Consider travel insurance.
If you're leaving the country, it may be wise to purchase travel insurance. Most health policies don't cover you if you leave U.S. soil. A good travel insurance policy will cover illness, injury, and emergency evacuation coverage.

2. Embrace the buddy system.
Whether you're headed somewhere close or far away, it's important to always use the "buddy system" in unfamiliar settings. Just because a place may seem safe, doesn't mean it necessarily is. Be prepared and always have a friend or family member with you wherever you venture to.

3. Bring another form of identification.
It's very easy for an ID to get lost or stolen, which is why it's so important to make sure you have some other form of identification with you, whether it be a student ID, old driver's license, or even a copy of your passport.

4. Prepare for the sun.
If you're going somewhere warm, make sure to pack sunscreen and aloe vera, no matter how well you may tan. The sun's rays are very powerful and even if you may think you're okay, there's still a chance you will get burnt. A nasty sunburn or sickness could ruin your whole trip. The same goes for sunglasses. Protect your eyes with the proper UV protection!

5. Avoid staying on the first floor.
Staying in a hotel? Try to refrain from getting a room on the first floor. It is a much bigger target for thieves! Store any valuables you brought with you in a secure location such as a safe.

6. Carry phone numbers and cash.
It's always a good idea to carry emergency cash and phone numbers of cab companies with you at all times. Make sure to include the address of your hotel or place you are staying at with you as well. It's better to be safe than sorry!

7. Do your research.
Read up on where you are going before you leave and pre-arrange transportation from the airport to your destination. The more you are prepared, the easier it will be. It's best to stay alert and know your surroundings ahead of time to ensure you remain safe throughout your entire trip!

It's critical to take the necessary safety measures beforehand no matter where you're traveling to. Making arrangements before and during your stay will ensure a memorable and enjoyable trip. Follow our list of spring break safety tips to help you prepare before you head out to your vacation destination! Taking a road trip instead of flying? Get your vehicle into gear by making sure routine maintenance is performed. If your ride is in need of service, schedule an appointment with our team before you leave. We are here to make certain your car is ready to handle the road ahead and keep you safe along the way!
