Chevrolet Partnered With LG to Develop the New Bolt EV

Chevrolet Partnered With LG to Develop the New Bolt EV

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – General Motors made another huge stride in the electric vehicle field, and not by themselves. Chevrolet partnered with LG to develop the new Bolt EV set for release in 2017.

The Bolt EV is the first ever long-range electric car that’s affordable for car buyers. Chevrolet partnered with LG to develop the new Bolt EV and combined their skills in infotainment, battery systems, component development, electric motor designs, and battery control.

Here’s what you’re going to get with the Chevrolet Bolt EV:
  • Electric Drive Motor (built from GM design)
  • Power Inverter Module (converts DC power to AC for the drive unit)
  • On Board Charger
  • Electric Climate Control System Compressor
  • Battery Cells and Pack
  • High Power Distribution Module (controls the flow of high voltage to a number of components)
  • Battery Heater
  • Accessory Power Module (maintains low-voltage power to accessories)
  • Power Line Communication Module (regulates communication between vehicle and a DC charging station)
  • Instrument Cluster
  • Infotainment System

Engineers for the Bolt EV took a lot of time to decide on the design, driving range, and performance capabilities before coming to the final decision that they wanted an affordable long-range electric vehicle. The Bolt EV can go 200-plus miles on a single charge. This vehicle keeps Chevrolet the leading car company in electric cars.

LG is proud to partner with GM for the simple fact that they are now a big player in next-generation vehicle technologies. They invested over $250 million for an engineering and manufacturing factory in Korea to support the production of the Bolt EV components.

Production of the Chevrolet Bolt EV will begin in late 2016. Until then, if you're in the market for a new Chevy car or new Chevy truck you can stop by our Chevrolet dealer near Big Rapids, MI.

Chevrolet Has Engineered The Active Phone Cooling Feature

Chevrolet Has Engineered The Active Phone Cooling Feature

MT.PLEASANT, Mich. – Isn't it frustrating when you're driving and your phone overheats from streaming music and using your GPS at the same time? Most smartphones have a built in cooling feature that helps prevent this, however, that means that sometimes your phone will just shut off completely. To fight this, Chevrolet has engineered the Active Phone Cooling feature, which is an industry-first feature that cools your phone and keeps it from overheating!

So, how does this work? It is actually quite easy to understand: An air vent connected directly to the car's A/C and ventilation system is directed to the charging bin where the phone rests for wireless charging. This bin sits in the center, under the entertainment system of the vehicle. The system sends cooler air to help lower the smartphone's temperature and can only be turned on manually by the driver.

Several factors can cause or worsen overheating in smartphones like heavy strain on the device's data and graphic processors, high ambient temperatures or simply charging the device. That's why Chevrolet has engineered the Active Phone Cooling feature, which will be available on certain models of the 2016 lineup that include the new Impala, Malibu, Volt and Cruze models that are equipped with wireless charging and Chevrolet MyLink.

We cannot wait to see this new feature on the 2016 Chevy line up later this year! If you would like to check out our new or used vehicle inventory you could always stop by!
