The New 2019 Chevrolet Volt Cuts Charging Time in Half

2019 Chevrolet Volt

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Drivers are about to get more out of the new 2019 Chevy Volt! The new 2019 Chevrolet Volt is cutting charging times in half and is adding twice the all-electric driving range per hour of charge. The new 7.2 kW charging system allows for an increase in the all-electric utility, which is particularly beneficial for drivers who plug in while traveling around town, known as “opportunity charging.”

“With about twice the range added during 240V Level 2 charging sessions, the 2019 Volt’s 7.2 kW system makes opportunity charging more worthwhile,” said Jesse Ortega, chief engineer, Chevrolet Electric Vehicles. “It effectively extends the vehicle’s all-electric driving range, while providing about twice the range for the money when plugging in at public facilities that charge by the hour.”

In as little as 2.3 hours, with a 240-volt outlet, a complete recharge can take place with the new 7.2 kW system which comes standard on all 2019 Chevrolet Volt Premier models, and is available as an upgrade on the LT trim.

Plus, when it comes to the new 2019 Chevrolet Volt, drivers will enjoy an EPA-estimated 53 miles of pure EV range and 106 MPGe (gasoline equivalent) with a full charge and a full tank of gas. The gas-powered generator begins working once the battery of the Volt begins to run low, which then extends the driving range to 420 miles on a full tank.

While the driving range and charge times are two important factors when it comes to the Chevy Volt, the 2019 Volt also offers a good number of other exciting features. If you are driving in a colder climate, where you wish to use less gas, the 2019 Volt allows you to defer activation of its automatic engine-assisted heating system until much lower temperatures (-13 degrees F/-25 degrees C). It also offers a smoother ride through regenerative braking capability with the Low and Regen on Demand profiles, which therefore allows the vehicle to reach its class-leading EV range. Additionally, the 2019 Volt's in-car tech has been upgraded with the Chevy Infotainment 3 system that incorporates a new Energy App within the 8-inch color touchscreen. Through the app, drivers can ensure they are getting the best performance out of their vehicle by better understanding how their route, driving style, cabin comfort, and weather conditions may be impacting their range via mileage, rather than by numerical "score" as in the past..

Design-wise the 2019 Chevy Volt is bringing both interior and exterior upgrades to the streets. The interior of the vehicle is becoming more digital with front and rear speakers that will alert drivers when operating at slow speeds, a digital rearview camera, a slight horn alert when the full pressure of a tire is achieved, a wireless charging pad that is relocated ahead of the shifter for easier use (available with navigation radio), and new cruise control options where the driver can select Adaptive Cruise Control or conventional cruise control. A first for the Volt, is the introduction of a power driver's seat which will come standard on the Premier model and will be available on the LT models. On the exterior, the 2019 Volt will offer a new Pacific Blue exterior color, as well as a new Jet Black/Porcelain Blue interior on the Premier version. Or, if you're looking for something more sleek, opt for the dealer-installed blackout package for black front/rear bowtie emblems, sport pedals, and 17-inch machined-aluminum wheels with black-painted pockets.

Chevrolet Electric Vehicle Comparison

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is a fully electric hatchback sedan that receives an impressive 238 miles-per-charge. While driving in Low mode at any speed, you can slow down by lifting your foot from the accelerator. This impressive new technology extends the life of your brakes and improves the battery of your Bolt EV.

GM Produces First Self-Driving Chevrolet Vehicles

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.–– The future is right around the corner. Last month, GM announced that it had finished production of 130 self-driving Chevrolet Bolt vehicles. GM believes that this will help them gain a foothold in the race to create autonomous vehicles. Get a firsthand look into the future of driving as GM produces the first self-driving Chevrolet vehicles! While the timetable for these vehicles hasn't been released to the public, this technology's inception will revolutionize driving for everyone in the future. Read on to learn more about Chevrolet's cutting-edge autonomous vehicle's features!

GM Produces First Self-Driving Chevrolet Vehicles

The self-driving Chevy Bolt EV vehicles were revealed at the Orion Assembly Plant last month. GM has vowed to be the first car company to produce mass-marketed self-driving vehicles to the public, and with the revelation of the autonomous Bolt EV, are showing that they're capable of mass producing these vehicles. These Bolt EV vehicles are Level-4 autonomous vehicles, which means they're able to drive themselves in most situations, but need someone alert and ready behind the wheel to take control in case of any emergencies.

The Bolt's LIDAR, or laser radar technology, gives the vehicle a 360 degree view of its surroundings to allow it to adjust its speed and brake accordingly. They are equipped with sensors, radars, and cameras to keep their drivers safe in any situation, but can still be driven like a normal vehicle if need be.

"Each LIDAR has 32 lasers and spins 360 degrees, providing a detailed view of the world to the car," said Kyle Vogt, CEO of Cruise Automation, a company acquired by GM last year that develops the software necessary to operate self-driving cars. “There are even a couple of cameras that are dedicated just to seeing traffic lights to make sure you don’t run red lights.”

GM's CFO, Chuck Stevens, has vowed to run the self-driving department like a Silicon Valley startup company, investing over $150 million per quarter in the technology to make sure it's available to the public soon. They have also hired over 1,000 new engineers to help produce and innovate this technology at an accelerated rate to market it to the public. While other vehicle companies like Ford and BMW have promised to publicly sell autonomous vehicles by 2021, GM hopes to have their self-driving cars on the road sooner than that with additional help from their investments and engineering prowess.

The Chevy Bolt EV is available to consumers today, with its award-winning capabilities and state-of-the-art technology. While it may not have self-driving technology yet, you can learn more about its features with our model overview. You can download the brochure, read up on its capabilities, and check prices, too! Last month, GM produced its first self-driving Chevrolet vehicle, and soon, this futuristic feature will be available to you! The future will be in your hands before you know it!

The 2016 Volt Gives Drivers 53 Miles Of EV Range

The 2016 Volt Gives Drivers 53 Miles of EV Range

MT. PLEASANT, MI – Chevy delivered what the customers were asking for –The 2016 Volt gives drivers 53 miles of EV range! The brand new 2016 Volt offers its drivers 53 miles just from one charge of the battery! This is almost a 40 percent increase from the first-generation Volt model.

New Volt owners are using the new 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, rated at a combined 106MPGe, or the gasoline equivalent. When the battery gets low the car switches over to a gas-powered generator to increase the driving range to 420 miles on a full tank.

Drivers of the new Volt are expected to use the battery power for about 90 percent of their trips, compared to the first-generation Volt owners who used battery power for only 80 percent of their trips. This is beneficial because the owners can drive easily over 1,000 miles between each gas fill up if they charge their new cars regularly.

The next-generation Volt also has a 1.5L range-extender, which uses regular unleaded fuel, and gives the driver an EPA fuel efficiency of 42 MPG, which gives the 2016 Volt 53 miles of EV range.

Statistics from the original Volt shows that customers exceeded the previous EPA-estimated mileage and are expected to do the same with the new Volt. Stay tuned to find out more about the release of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt. Cadillac Confirms New CT6/CT8/CT9, SUVs, and Electric Vehicles

Cadillac Confirms New CT6/CT8/CT9, SUVs, and Electric Vehicles

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Cadillac's new boss-man, Johan de Nysschen, hasn't been on the job long but he is already making huge plans for the brand. Over the past week or so, the luxury brand has been making headlines daily with new changes that are set to be implemented over the next decade. From a completely new vehicle naming structure, a run of new products, and a refresh to the brand's electric game, it's going to be an intense few years for the brand because Cadillac confirmed New CT6/CT8/CT9 models, SUVs, and Electric Vehicles!

First to make headlines was the announcement of a new flagship CT6 sedan, which will be the first to take on the new naming structure. But the automaker isn't wasting any time because Cadillac just confirmed new CT8/CT9 models, SUVs, and Electric Vehicles too; all for debut by 2020! While the name hasn't yet been finalized as CT8 or CT9, Cadillac just signed off on another flagship model that will be positioned above the CT6 but will offer a large, long-wheelbase to compete with other large luxury sedans.

While the new CT8/CT9 sedan isn't set to debut until sometime over the next 10 years, there is a new Cadillac model we can look forward to by 2016 – a successor to the SRX crossover! Again, this addition to the lineup will allow Cadillac to compete with other luxury crossover rivals. And the same goes for the automaker's electric game. A follow up to the ELR plug-in hybrid, a full on electric car, and a plug-in model for the new CT6 are all in the works!

Basically, it's a complete revamp of a huge part of Cadillac's current lineup! We will definitely keep you updated as more details on Cadillac's new CT6, CT8/9, SUVs and Electric Vehicles are released! While many of these changes may take years, we encourage you to stop by and check out the current lineup as it is nothing short of bliss!
