World Series MVP Will Receive Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado

MT. PLEASANT, Mich.,–– The 2017 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros has been nothing short of jaw-dropping. Games have gone from lights-out pitching to home run-filled slugfests in a matter of seconds. While we're sure competition is heating up for the chance to win one of the most coveted championships in sports, there is another prize on the table for the World Series champs. The World Series MVP will receive a Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado for their game-changing performance, and one look at this standard-setting pickup will show you why it's worth fighting for.

World Series MVP Will Receive Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado

The Chevrolet Centennial Edition Silverado was created in honor of the 100th anniversary of the first Chevy truck. With over 100 years of off-roading, towing, and carrying, the Centennial Edition is the culmination of a century of Chevrolet's achievements. It's only fitting that the best player of the World Series receives a vehicle this iconic. According to Chevrolet, the Centennial Edition is equipped with the brand's absolute best -- breathtaking design, powerful performance, and an unbeatably distinctive look inspired by the most notable trucks Chevy has ever created.

World Series MVP Will Receive Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado

“The Silverado and Colorado Centennial Editions are a result of collaboration between Chevrolet Design, Engineering and Marketing, to commemorate the history of Chevy Trucks,” said Rich Scheer, Chevrolet Trucks director of Exterior Design. “Both vehicles offer our most enthusiastic fans a way to demonstrate their love for Chevy Trucks and celebrate the Chevy Trucks Centennial with us.”

World Series MVP Will Receive Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado

Who do you think is going to win the MVP title? We hope it's former Tigers all-star Justin Verlander! No matter who it is, though, we're sure that when the World Series MVP receives their Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado, they'll be thankful they put in all the hard work it took to achieve the title! Want to get your hands on your very own Centennial Edition Chevy Silverado or Colorado? Head over to our Special Edition Chevy page to place an order online today. Before you know it, you'll be behind the wheel of an incredible Centennial Edition pickup! 15 Crazy Halloween Facts

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Halloween is one of the most beloved holidays of the world, but most people don't even know how it began or why it's celebrated! Check out these 15 crazy Halloween facts to find out why we celebrate Halloween, how jack-o-lanterns came into existence, how heavy the biggest pumpkin in the world weighed, and more below!

15 Crazy Halloween Facts

  1. Halloween has been celebrated for over 6,000 years! It is thought to have originated around 4,000 B.C.E., and since then, has become one of the most celebrated holidays in the world.
  2. Halloween hasn't always been called Halloween. It's gone by several names, like Samhain, All Hallow's Eve, Witches' Night, Snap-Apple Night, and even Summer's End.
  3. Halloween began as a Celtic festival for the dead called "Samhain". People at the time believed that Samhain was the day of the dead and that spirits would roam the earth. They would dress as ghosts and demons and leave "treats" on their front porch for the spirits so that they wouldn't be haunted.
  4. The Jack-o-Lantern was also started in Ireland, based on the story of the ghost of Stingy Jack. Irish people carved terrifying faces into pumpkins, potatoes, beets, and turnips to scare Stingy Jack and other spirits away from their homes on Halloween.
  5. The biggest pumpkin in recorded history weighed over 2,624.6 lbs. That's one big jack-o-lantern!
  6. In the Middle Ages, it was customary for trick-or-treaters to have to sing or dance in order to receive their treats. This was a practice known as "mumming" and is still practiced in some parts of Europe!
  7. This year, Americans are projected to spend over $618 million on pumpkins alone!
  8. Americans spend over $6 billion on Halloween annually, coming in second place to Christmas as the most commercial holiday in the United States.
  9. Halloween candy can last a lot longer than you'd think! Chocolates can last up to two years if stored in a dry area, and hard candy can last up to a year. Thankfully, you won't have to eat all of your candy in one day!
  10. Halloween is the sweetest holiday of the year. Chocolate sold on Halloween doubles the amount sold on Valentine's day. In fact, over $1.9 billion a year is spent on Halloween candy alone in the United States!
  11. Black and orange, the main colors of Halloween, both have symbolic meaning. Orange stands for the strength and endurance of autumn, while black symbolizes death and darkness, paying tribute to Halloween's origin as the day of the dead.
  12. In Mexico, the Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st instead of October 31st. Participants dress up like the dead and parade down the street in honor of those that have passed on to the next life.
  13. The Lantern Festival in China is celebrated to commemorate Halloween. Lanterns shaped like dragons are hung throughout streets to guide spirits back to their homes, and families typically leave food and water by their ancestors' portraits to welcome them for the evening.
  14. According to Safe Kids America, children are twice as likely to be involved in car accidents during Halloween. If you're going out, make sure to teach your children about street safety and keep an eye out for vehicles on the road!
  15. It is extremely rare for Halloween to occur during a full moon. The next full moon Halloween will take place on 10/31/2020.

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – On October 31st, parents, children, ghosts, ghouls, and goblins will all make their way to the streets to take part in the annual tradition of trick-or-treating. However, due to the busy atmosphere and large crowds of people walking around at night, Halloween is also one of the most dangerous times of the year. According to Safe Kids USA, children are twice as likely to be involved in vehicle-related accidents on Halloween than they would any other day of the year. Make the road safer for trick-or-treaters this year with these 6 tips for safe Halloween driving.

1. Check Your Oil and Coolant

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

Your vehicle's oil and coolant help to regulate the temperature of your engine, preventing it from overheating as you drive. Without proper oil levels, your engine's components will rub against one another, creating friction, producing heat and causing damage to important parts of your engine. Additionally, a low coolant level can cause heat to produce at a much faster rate, which can quickly create problems within your engine and its components. An overheating engine can cause a vehicle to break down and increase the chances of traffic buildups and accidents on the road. Keep an eye on your fluid levels to increase your safety on the road!

Our Recommendation: You should have your oil changed every 3,000-5,000 miles, or whenever your vehicle owner's manual tells you to do so, and have your coolant checked and changed every 30,000 miles. If you aren't sure how to check your oil or coolant, our guide will provide you with step-by-step instructions and indicators to determine whether or not you need your oil or coolant changed!

2. Test Your Headlights and Taillights

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

If you're planning on driving at night, one of the most important components to check before you hit the road are your headlights and taillights. Your headlights will help you spot pedestrians and hazards on the road as you drive, keeping both you and other trick-or-treaters safe this Halloween. Your taillights serve a similar purpose, as they help to notify pedestrians and other drivers behind you when you are preparing to stop or take a turn. Making sure your headlights and taillights are in working condition can make a huge difference this Halloween season.

Our Recommendation: Bring a friend along for this one! When the sun goes down, have them stand in front of your parked vehicle as you turn it on, engaging the headlights. Next, turn on your left turn signal, then your right turn signal. After that, make your buddy stand behind the vehicle and repeat the process. If they notice any dim or dark headlights or taillights, wait until the morning and then bring it into our Service Center. We'll make sure your lights are in proper working condition before Halloween begins!

3. Practice Street Safety

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

Street safety might seem like a no-brainer if you've been driving for a long time, but people can be very unpredictable on Halloween. Groups will frequently jaywalk or cross the street at the last second at busy intersections. While this may be frustrating as a driver, practicing defensive driving during the holiday season can make the difference between a minor inconvenience and a Halloween nightmare.

Our Recommendation: Pay very close attention to speed limits, crosswalks, and other street signs that can indicate whether or not you will need to stop. If you see pedestrians attempting to cross the road, give them the right of way and allow them to proceed. Additionally, if you approach a yellow light, do not try to make the light and cross the intersection! This is an extremely unsafe driving habit and can lead to dangerous consequences. Refer to these Halloween driving safety tips to keep your trick-or-treaters and passengers safe this year.

4. Fill Your Tires

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

Driving with low air in your tires can affect your vehicle in a variety of ways. You'll experience poor gas mileage, have difficulty braking, and may even encounter damage to your axles or wheels themselves. Keeping your tires properly inflated can help you avoid accidents, costly repairs, and will greatly improve your fuel economy.

Our Recommendation: First, check the amount of PSI or pressure your vehicle owner's manual says your tires should be at. Next, purchase a tire gauge to help you determine your tires' PSI. Finally, head to a nearby gas station or tire inflation center and find the nearest air pump. Unscrew the small cap on your hubcap and insert the air pump, pressing down on the lever to engage the air. Alternate filling your tires with pressure and checking your tires' pressure on the gauge to determine when they are at their appropriate level. Lastly, once you've successfully filled all your tires to their proper PSI, screw the caps back on your tires.

5. Use Your Vehicle's Advanced Safety Features

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

Do you own a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac vehicle? Good news! It's probably equipped with a suite of advanced safety features! From the optional Adaptive Cruise Control to the standard Rear Vision Camera, you can make the road a much safer place with your vehicle's safety features.

Our Recommendation: If you own or are interested in buying or leasing a new vehicle, explore some of the advanced safety features that come standard or optional on most GM vehicles, then let us know if you want to schedule a test drive to see how this technology works in person!

6. Have Your Vehicle Inspected

6 Tips for Safe Halloween Driving

The best way to ensure that your vehicle is run effectively on the road this Halloween is to have it inspected. Our ASE Certified service team members can help with oil changes, coolant flushes, tire changes, headlight replacements, and much more. You can schedule a check-up to have your vehicle's important components inspected to make sure that it is safe to drive.

Our Recommendation: The best way to keep your vehicle in great shape is by staying up to date on its routine maintenance. It's an important part of vehicle ownership that can often be overlooked, but proper care and effort will ensure that your car, truck, crossover, or SUV lasts a very long time.

It is always better to be safe than sorry, especially on a busy and crowded day like Halloween. Make the streets a less dangerous place this October 31st with these 6 tips for safe Halloween driving. As we mentioned earlier, one of the best ways to protect yourself on the road is to take advantage of the advanced safety features available on GM vehicles. Also, let us know if you have any questions or would like to try these safety features for yourself by scheduling a free test drive

Chevrolet Develops Stain-Resistant Interior for the 2018 Equinox

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. –  Over the past year, Chevrolet paid close attention to social media, noting the experiences and inconveniences their customers faced while on the road. The most common problem was the natural wear and tear on the interior of their vehicles as well as messes and spills that can occur. There was even an issue with dark-wash denim blue jeans staining the fabric of the seats in new vehicles.

With this in mind, Chevrolet developed a stain-resistant interior for the 2018 Equinox to withstand all the spills, scuffs, and other messes that can occur while driving and through everyday life. The intricate new design was based on the way Equinox customers live, complimenting the crossover's unique style with long-lasting materials to make a fashionable statement both on and off the road.

Chevrolet Develops Stain-Resistant Interior for the 2018 Equinox

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's durable denim-like seat fabric and available leather seating surfaces are designed for easy cleanup in the event of spills or messes, ideal if you plan on making this crossover the family vehicle. The treatments used on the fabric and leather also resist stains and scuffing that would otherwise leave unsightly marks on a vehicle's interior. With the new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, you can rest easy knowing that its interior will hold up against pretty much everything and look as good as the day you bought it!

Chevrolet Develops Stain-Resistant Interior for the 2018 Equinox

“Many fashion trends disappear after a year of two, while the Equinox is designed for the long haul, making the durability of its materials very important,” said Mara Kapsis, color and trim designer for the 2018 Equinox. “By following real people and absorbing the little things in life that help or hinder them — such as photos posted of muddy paws, spilled drinks or stains on the seats — we learned more about how we could make the new Equinox easier to live with and enjoy every day.”

Chevrolet Develops Stain-Resistant Interior for the 2018 Equinox

With customers like you and your family in mind, Chevrolet developed a stain-resistant interior for the 2018 Equinox! If you're interested, take a look at the 2018 Equinox Brochure to get a closer look at this cutting-edge crossover's engine specifications, technology features, and more. After you've read up on the Equinox, explore the Equinox Model Overview to compare trim levels, prices, and customer reviews on the vehicle. Then, once you've gathered all the knowledge you can on the new crossover, browse our Equinox Inventory to get a closer look at the models we have in stock! Cadillac Drives Coast-to-Coast With Hands-Free Technology

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – This October, Cadillac will make history. Cadillac will drive coast-to-coast with hands-free technology, making the first journey from New York City to Los Angeles, California with the industry-leading Super Cruise feature. Super Cruise technology is the first hands-free highway driving system of its kind. Using radar technology and a driver attention system, Super Cruise brings a new level to highway driving, allowing you and your passengers to rest easy on the road while their vehicle's automatic lane-centering keeps everyone safe while on the freeway.

Cadillac Drives Coast-to-Coast With Hands-Free Technology

Beginning their journey in New York City, a twelve vehicle caravan of Super Cruise-equipped 2018 Cadillac CT6s will travel from coast-to-coast, crossing through 16 states and Washington DC. The fleet of CT6s will make stops in several major U.S. cities including Cleveland, Chicago, Memphis, Dallas, Santa Fe, and Phoenix. This revolutionary Super Cruise technology enables this hands-free driving across over 130,000 miles of limited access, divided freeways throughout the United States.

“Cadillac is setting new industry standards with ground-breaking driver assistance technologies like Super Cruise, the world’s first true hands-free driving system for the freeway,” said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president. “We are excited to bring Super Cruise, a true testament to Cadillac’s innovative spirit and technical capability, on its first-ever hands-free drive on freeways from coast to coast.” - Cadillac

Cadillac Drives Coast-to-Coast With Hands-Free Technology

Available on the new 2018 Cadillac CT6, Super Cruise technology redefines safe highway driving. It also works to ensure that the driver is aware of the road ahead of them even when the technology is in effect. This driver attention system is designed to help prevent accidents from occurring by keeping the driver alert and attentive to traffic and road conditions with various alerts such as a steering wheel light bar, visual indicators on the center vehicle display, and sound notifications.

While Cadillac drives coast-to-coast with hands-free technology, you can commute to work, head out on a road trip, or pick your kids up from school with the hands-free highway driving of the 2018 Cadillac CT6! Take a look at our Cadillac CT6 Model Overview to view what trim levels are compatible with Super Cruise technology.
